 Since many years, Caritas International supports micro-projects and emergency responses in Asia. It is after the December 26th Tsunami in 2004 that Caritas International established an Asia desk in order to respond to the tsunami programmes in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia. In 2007, Caritas International Belgium has taken the decision to increase its presence in Asia, and where possible, to expand its programmes in the region. UN Volunteers work together with the Caritas Asia Desk, to support the office in various areas of its work, from reviewing concept notes and project proposals to editing and designing publications and translating documents.
